Web Version of SciFinder Scholar

  The web version of SciFinder allows you to use SciFinder through your web browser. You do not need to install software and it will work on any computer with Internet access on or off campus. You must create your own SciFinder account first and you may need to change the settings on your web browser.

Access is limited to two simultaneous users.

Creating an
account

To create an account, complete this form

Name
DCU staff / student number
DCU email

   
You will then receive an email reply within one working day with a link to a secure registration page. Go to this page and complete the registration form. Remember to make a note of your username and password. You will need this every time you use the web version of SciFinder.
 
Access on DCU campus

Click on this link and enter your SciFinder username and password details:

 
Access off DCU campus

Click on this link:

Enter your DCU computer username and password and click on Enter. You may get an error message like this:

You can ignore this message and click past it. The message appears if you move from one secure page (DCU Library login) to another (SciFinder login). There is no security threat so its OK proceed. As long as you're dealing with a trustworthy website - SciFinder, DCU website, library databases - there's no problem. You should not do this with websites you don't know or trust.

When you get to the SciFinder login page, enter your SciFinder username and password and click on Sign In.

Recommended web browsers:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer, Versions 6.x and 7.x
  • Mozilla Firefox, Version 2.x
  • Apple SafariTM 3

Your browser should allow:

  • Popups
  • Java
  • Cookies

You will need to install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for structure drawing.
