Databases on Trial

Occasionally the library will trial a new database service and provide university researchers and students with the opportunity to evaluate them in terms of relevance, quality of content, search features, ease of use etc. Feedback should be directed to your Subject Librarian or your school Library Liaison Officer. Where a database is deemed to be highly desirable and funding is made available the library can take out a subscription and provide continuous access to the university community.

	Dictionary of Irish Biography
	The Dictionary of Irish Biography, a collaborative project between Cambridge University Press and the Royal Irish Academy, is the most comprehensive and authoritative biographical dictionary yet published for Ireland. It contains 9,014 signed biographical articles which describe and assess the careers of subjects in all fields of endeavour, including politics, law, religion, literature, journalism, architecture, painting, music, the stage, science, medicine, engineering, entertainment and sport.

	Reaxys
	Reaxys is the new web-based platform for Crossfire (Beilstein and Gmelin). It is faster and easier to use than CrossFire and can be accessed from any computer without installing software. Pending the trial outcome, the library may switch to Reaxys and end our CrossFire license. 10 Reasons why to switch from CrossFire to Reaxys.
