A space for research

The newly refurbished research commons was launched recently and named in honour of the late Patrick J. Wright. At the launch, Professor Gary Murphy, Director of Graduate Studies, whose office, together with the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), funded the refurbishment of the commons, spoke of the importance of the facility in supporting the needs of the growing postgraduate research community.

The facility has proved extremely popular since it re-opened for research masters and PhD students. The space comprises two large areas, one (seen below) which provides 24 individual desks equipped with lighting and data/power points for laptops. This area also includes a meeting room, lounge area and lockers.

The lobby which leads into the main area also houses a number of PCs, a scanner and printing facilities. Wireless access is available throughout.

If you are a research student and would like to use this facility, please complete the online registration form which is required to enable swipe-card access.
