Resources Update
IReL update - 6 new database
 

The library has continued to acquire a number of resources through IReL – The Irish Research electronic Library initiative.

6 databases recently launched:


Oxford Music Online
  Full-text access to:
The Oxford Dictionary of Music
: 12,500 entries on composers, performers, conductors, musical terms and forms, instruments, works, venues, and a host of other topics.
Grove Music Online
: includes The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, The New Grove Dictionary of Opera , and The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz.
The Oxford Companion to Music
: More than 8,000 articles on range of subjects: composers, performers, conductors, individual works, instruments and notation, forms and genres.

Environment and Planning
  Environment and Planning is a collection of four urban and regional planning journals. They focus on everything from the environment and nature through planning and policy to theory and design.

Web version of SciFinder
  SciFinder Scholar is updated daily, this database provides access to over 35 million substance records from the Chemical Abstracts Registry file, plus 20 million abstracts from more than 8000 journals, patents, conferences and reports in the CAplus file.  Subjects covered include biochemistry, organic, macromolecular, applied, physical, inorganic and analytical chemistry.
You can now access web version through your web browser without installing software on any computer with Internet access, on or off campus (limited to 2 simultaneous users).

International Energy Agency statistics (via Source OECD)
 
IEA statistics are now available through the SourceOECD database. It contains information from the thirty OECD member countries on the following areas:

    - CO2 Emissions from Fuel Combustion
    - Coal Information
    - Electricity Information
    - Energy Prices and Taxes
    - Energy Technology R&D
    - Forecasts from Energy Policies
    - Natural Gas Information
    - Oil Information
    - Renewables Information
    - World Energy Statistics and Balances

SPIE
  The SPIE Digital Library is the most extensive resource available on optics and photonics, providing unprecedented access to more than 230,000 technical papers from SPIE Journals and Conference Proceedings from 1990 to the present. More than 17,000 new research papers are added annually.

ARTstor
  ARTstor is a digital library of approximately 550,000 images in the areas of art, architecture, the humanities and social sciences with a set of tools to view, present, and manage images for research and teaching purposes.

New online business resources 
 

 
Blackwell Encyclopedia of Management
 

This is online version of Blackwell’s 12-volume encyclopaedic dictionary of management is available through the same EBSCO platform used to deliver other valuable business resources such a as Business Source Premier and Econlit. The encyclopedia contains over 4,400 complete entries in all the following fields: accounting, business ethics, finance, HR management, entrepreneurship, international management, MIS, managerial economics, marketing, operations management, organisational behaviour and strategic management.


Economist Intelligence Unit – Country Reports

 

We now have current access to the online versions of EIU Country Reports for Ireland, the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Japan. This access is in addition to the embargoed country report archive for these and many other countries available through Business Source Premier.


FAME

  Bureau Van Dijk’s FAME is a leading company information database. It provides company accounts, ratios, activities, ownership and management for the largest 2.6 million UK and Irish companies, summary information for a further 1 million smaller businesses. Fame is an invaluable addition to our suite of company information resources which can be accessed through our Data and reference resources page (on the Business Subject Portal) and our A-Z of Databases

DCUBS Research Papers

 

DCUBS is migrating its research papers series to DORAS, the university’s institutional repository. This series goes back to 1996, and the papers can be found by browsing “DCU Faculties and Centres”.


National Bureau of Economic Research – Working Papers

 

This database provides the full texts of an extensive range of working papers produced by researchers at the independent, not-for-profit NBER based in Massachusetts. Over 700 papers are added to the database every year.
